BLACK COFFEE, A SOUTH AFRICAN DJ, HAS CREATED HISTORY BY WINNING A GRAMMY AWARD.

Maphumulo, better known by his stage name Black Coffee, a South African DJ, is
the first African DJ to win a Grammy. On Monday, April 4th, 2022, this successful
DJ took home the award for best dance/electronic album at the 64th Grammy
Awards.
This
is the first time in the category that a South African producer has won or been
nominated. DJ Black Coffee, a South African music producer, won Best Dance/Electronic
Album, beating out competitors such as Major Lazer and Ten City, with his
seventh studio album, Subconsciously, released in 2021. Diplo, Pharell
Williams, Usher, Sabrina Claudio, and Msaki were among the guests on the
12-track album, which was published in February 2021.
